On a blind date, you know right away whether there is a connection or not, but the problem lies when you have no interest in seeing the person, and are forced to make polite conversation for the whole evening. With eight minute a.k.a. speed dating, you're able to go by your first impression and scratch the surface a bit before you have to really open up.
