True Love

Finding true love against all odds

Just taking a look back through the ages, one can see all of the songs, literature, architecture, and art the inspiration for which was true love or the pursuit of true love. Our own history is a testament to the universal importance, or need, that we all have for finding true love. It may very well be the most widely used theme across both time and space, and why? Because there are none among us who cannot relate to both the joy and the sorrow that are part and parcel of true love. Most of us grow up with the very idea of finding true love ingrained through fairy tales and the like. We realize very early on in this life that the key to happiness is acquiring and keeping that one true love in our life.

Don't go out looking for it

As we all have the idea ingrained in us that love leads to happiness, which many studies have supported, we tend to be in constant pursuit of it. We will go to clubs and scan the dance floor and the bar for "the One". We even go to various events designed specifically for singles to meet each other. We attend social gatherings in the hopes of finding what we are looking for, a life mate who truly loves us and will make the ideal partner. For many of us, it becomes our main objective. We don't socialize for the sake of enriching our own lives and forging lasting and meaningful friendships, instead we are constantly on the look out for true love. Some people even resort to love spells, having them cast on their behalf in hopes of having their soul mate delivered to them.

But, this is actually doing more harm than good. We are telling ourselves that we cannot be happy without another in our life and without being in love or in a relationship, and that should not be the case. You see, people are actually more attracted to others who are confident and happy with themselves and by themselves. We should give up the desperate search and realize that things need to take their own course and that we cannot force it. We need to be concentrating on our own life, going to social events because we are interested in enriching our own lives through friendships and meeting new people. You will find that true love when you are truly happy with yourself, by yourself. You can only really learn what is true love when you also love yourself.
